MAR MAC FARMS

Built on four generations of dedication to the land and the cattle that sustain it, Mar Mac is a family farm located southwest of Brandon, Manitoba. Since 1955, our operation has been shaped by one guiding principle—raise cattle that work in the real world.

What began with Black Angus in 1955 grew with the addition of Simmental genetics in 1976 and Red Angus in 1983. Each step was taken with purpose, building toward a cow herd of approximately 200 breeding females known for predictability, functionality, and longevity. Today, our Red Angus and Simmental programs stand side by side, complementing one another to deliver maternal strength, performance, and consistency.

Our legacy is not measured in numbers alone, but in the generations of cattle and cattlemen who have relied on Mar Mac genetics—proven over time, trusted in the pasture, and built to last.

OUR GOAL

Our goal is simple: to produce predictable, functional cattle that work in the real world.

Our cows are not pampered. They run on corn grazing and hay through January and February, then are expected to calve unassisted and rebreed on a roughage ration. The cowherd is culled annually on feet and legs, performance, and fertility—if they don’t measure up, they’re sold.

Herd sires are selected for performance, ease of fleshing, docility, and structural soundness. We utilize embryo transfer extensively, using proven females to consistently enhance each calf crop.

We host our annual on-farm bull sale each March and consign cattle to elite female sales across Canada every fall. In addition, sale cattle are always available privately at the farm.

At Mar Mac Farms, we stay actively involved in livestock boards and committed to keeping pace with the evolving cattle industry. We genuinely enjoy the cattle business and welcome visitors—stop in for a visit or give us a call to learn more about our program.
