Please join us on Tuesday, December 22, for our "Sharing the Herd" Red Angus and Simmental Herd Dispersal.

The year 2026 marks an incredible milestone for Mar Mac Farms—50 years in the Simmental business and 61 years in the Angus business. Building our cow herd and the genetics behind it has been our life's work, and making this announcement has been one of the hardest decisions we have ever had to make.

The time has come to lighten the workload at Mar Mac Farms. After much thought and consideration, we have made the difficult decision to reduce our cow numbers, allowing more time to spend with our grandchildren, family, and travelling.

On December 22, we will be offering ALL of our Red Angus and Simmental cows. This is an extremely unique opportunity to select from every single Mar Mac female and build on proven genetics that have worked successfully in both the commercial and purebred industries.

We have spent decades developing these cow families and are incredibly proud of the productive, functional, and young cow herd we have built. While we are dispersing the majority of our herd, we will be retaining only a handful of recipient cows carrying embryos to continue a small part of the Mar Mac legacy.

Sale day will also feature a select few lots in the Red Angus division where the buyer will receive their choice of the females, and Mar Mac Farms will retain the remaining female. This allows us the opportunity to continue some of our most treasured cow families within our smaller herd.

We have also decided to sell all our bull calves and a handful of two-year-old bulls in our Annual Bull Sale on March 10, 2027.

We love our cows and have been blessed to spend our lives working alongside great cattle and great people. It has truly been a privilege to be part of the Angus and Simmental industries, and we are excited to see these females go on to make an impact in herds across the country.

MAR MAC FARMS

Built on four generations of dedication to the land and the cattle that sustain it, Mar Mac is a family farm located southwest of Brandon, Manitoba. Since 1955, our operation has been shaped by one guiding principle—raise cattle that work in the real world.

What began with Black Angus in 1955 grew with the addition of Simmental genetics in 1976 and Red Angus in 1983. Each step was taken with purpose, building toward a cow herd of approximately 200 breeding females known for predictability, functionality, and longevity. Today, our Red Angus and Simmental programs stand side by side, complementing one another to deliver maternal strength, performance, and consistency.

Our legacy is not measured in numbers alone, but in the generations of cattle and cattlemen who have relied on Mar Mac genetics—proven over time, trusted in the pasture, and built to last.
